It's a new year. It's 2007.
There are many things that could be happening this year. In it's infancy, every year has its promises. It's up to each of us to determine for ourselves what the outcome will be by taking steps to actualize the promises and the plans to do something.
How will I use this blog this year? I know it's time to stop making one blog serve the many functions and focuses of the Organizational Development Consultant and Career Coach. The Organizational Development Consultant has several perspectives in addition to Ethics and Law. There's also Diversity, Workplace Violence and Safety, Retention, Communication. Then there are the career issues that need to be addressed for those who are job seekers. And on the whole, there's the middle ground where all three sides of the employment equation come together to see things from the other's perspective.
Give me a few days. I'll make a determination.
Meanwhile, 2007 is off and running at a wonderful pace. The minimum wage has finally been increased so that it is once again anchored to becoming a living wage. With the prosect of its being increased another 50 cents at the beginning of next year, dare I get heady and say that it will eventually be tied to the Consumer Price Index (CPI)? I can say it. The next issue is others becoming aware that the move would be a healthy one to make. And that is merely one of the many promising things that have gone from last year's predictions to this year's realities.
I believe this will be an excellent year for all of us.
